A New Haven student has been granted asylum by a judge while still being held in ICE custody.
Mario Aguilar, 18, is from Guatemala and was arrested by ICE agents at the Milford courthouse when he went to answer to charges in connection with an accident blamed on alcohol.
Aguilar will remain held unless ICE formally announces it will not appeal the decision.
