Some new laws will go into effect in Connecticut at the start of the New Year.

Starting Monday, companies like Lyft and Uber will have to register with the Department of Transportation and pay the state annual fees.

The same new law also gives the DOT the green light to regulate the company's registration.

Companies will also have to do background checks on drivers.

Other new laws set conditions for selling event tickets and put restrictions on how minors are housed in prison.

There's also a new law expanding the range of people eligible for insurance coverage for infertility treatments.
