A new playground project in Easton is in full swing after more than a year of fundraising by parents in town.
Crews are building the playground near the Helen Keller School on Sport Hill Road. They first tore out the old, outdated playground that the Parks Department called unsafe. Ground was broken on the new playground several weeks ago.
The town did not have enough money in the budget to build the playground, so the community came together to raise money. An anonymous donor later came in and provided $150,000 for the project.
The new playground will be handicapped-accessible.
Work is expected to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.
