New trials have been ordered for two men who have been serving decades-long sentences for the stabbing and beating death of a New Milford man.
Ralph Ricky Birch and Shawn Henning were convicted in the murder of 65-year-old Everett Carr in December of 1985.
Carr was stabbed 27 times, hit in the head and had his throat slashed.
Officials say the conviction was based on blood stains on a towel, but it has since been proven those stains were not blood.
The men were teens when they were sentenced.
