State police release video of a Connecticut state trooper being struck by a car on I-95.
State police say the incident happened near Exit 30 in Bridgeport.
The crash happened on Monday and caused the officer to roll and fall down an embankment.
The state trooper was outside of his vehicle when the crash happened.
According to the police report, the driver who struck the state police vehicle in the shoulder of I-95 lost control of his vehicle.
Police said he was issued a misdemeanor summons for failure to meet minimum insurance requirements.
Officials say both the state trooper and the driver whose vehicle struck him were taken to the hospital after suffering injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Alec Slaty, of the American Automobile Association, said AAA promotes awareness of slow down, move over laws to keep accidents like this one from occurring to begin with.
"That's a really, really terrifying situation,” Slaty said. "We want folks to slow down and if possible, move over a lane just to give them a margin of safety.”
