The families of more than a dozen victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have reached a settlement in a lawsuit against the mother of the shooter.
The families sued the estate of Nancy Lanza, saying she did not do enough to secure the assault rifle her son used in the massacre.
Court papers released yesterday state that the proposed settlement calls for the families to split $1.5 million.
Some of the victims' families are also suing the makers of the Bushmaster gun used in the shootings.
Adam Lanza killed 26 people in December of 2012.
