Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine says coastal flooding is a possibility, as rain continues to fall.
"Flooding on the North Shore in communities like Port Jeff or Northport or other areas where all the roads run down to the harbor, this is a concern," he said.
It’s a no-go Monday on both the Cross Sound and Bridgeport-Port Jefferson ferries, as service has been suspended because of the weather.
Spots on the North Shore that have been hit hard by storms before like Harbor Road in Stony Brook are wet but no signs of flooding as of Monday afternoon.
Rain came down in buckets Monday morning in Northport.
The storm drains took in some of the water running down Main Street.
Some Long Islanders are hunkering down indoors, but others like Lenny Guarino, of Northport, are weathering the storm.
"Walking around in the rain, I like it in Northport, nobody’s out, it’s beautiful…as long as you have the right gear on," he said.
