Norwalk car show honors legacy of late Westport police officer

An annual Norwalk car show Sunday honored the life of a former Westport police officer.
Italian American Police Society of Southern Connecticut hosted the Vincent Penna Jr. Memorial Car Show. It featured food, live music and a variety of classic and exotic cars.
Penna was a police officer for 26 years before retiring as deputy chief. In 2020, he unexpectedly died from a heart attack.
"Vinny was all about the community and he always was looking to give back and help out as much as could, which made him an amazing police officer and person," said Officer Craig Bergamo.
Proceeds will benefit the Vincent Penna Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Penna's family say they are overwhelmed by the community support.
"I'm speechless. Every year it becomes more popular. People ask me in the middle of the winter, 'When's the car show?' It amazes me that one person could have had such an impact to this day," said Vincent and Robin Penna.
