The Norwalk police department's chaplain has agreed to take a three-month leave of absence for accusing an officer of racial profiling.
Mayor Dick Moccia recommended the move yesterday, after the police union called for her resignation.
Rev. Nellie Mann made the comments after a police officer allegedly referred to hundreds of teens as gang members while radioing for help at Calf Pasture Beach on Memorial Day.
The chief says the officer in question is a minority, a gang expert and acted appropriately under the circumstances.
