Norwalk police are searching for several persons of interest following a fatal shooting this afternoon.
According to witnesses, the shooting happened at around 4 p.m. at the corner of Woodward Avenue and South Main Street after an altercation broke out on the sidewalk. Witnesses say they heard gunshots, then saw people running.
Police confirm that the victim was 35-year-old John Alston. Alston's girlfriend, who didn't want to be named, tells News 12 Connecticut that he was from Chicago and doesn't have any family in the area.
Police say it was not random attack, but a targeted shooting. They say the public is not at risk.
