A Norwalk police officer found himself in an unfamiliar situation in a familiar place Monday when he turned himself in for sexual assault.
Officer Ray DeCamillo is accused of sexually assaulting a female motorist. Police say the 35-year-old officer stopped the driver in July near Silvermine and New Canaan avenues. According to police, the next day the woman filed a complaint saying DeCamillo acted inappropriately.
DeCamillo turned himself in at police headquarters, where he has worked for two years. He is now under criminal and internal investigation. DeCamillo has been on administrative leave since July and is expected in court November 22.
