Some Norwalk residents say they're upset that the city has not allocated funds to make improvements to a popular baseball field.
Community members say they've asked the city to pursue investing in turf for the baseball field at Brien McMahon High School for more than a decade.
The uneven surface of the current field poses a risk to players' safety, according to parents. They're now frustrated over the city's finance director not including field upgrades as part of Norwalk's five-year capital spending plan.
The finance director tells News 12 that he prioritized other projects instead, including improvements in infrastructure, school facilities and the city's communications system.
Residents say the Common Council will approve the budget in early March. Until then, they say they'll keep pushing for improvements to the field.
