After a two-year legal battle, the Norwalk Zoning Commission voted 4-3 Thursday night in favor of a settlement agreement that will allow a mosque to be built.
Residents packed Norwalk City Hall Thursday night to discuss the proposed building on Fillow Street.
A Norwalk Islamic Center Spokesperson says it will be the city's only mosque and will be a place for a hundred families to worship.
Some residents were not happy with the decision, and let the commission know they were not happy.
News 12 is told that the Common Council will vote on the agreement's monetary components next week. If they approve it, the Islamic Center will raise funds and start construction of the mosque within the next five years.
