Number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Fairfield County down 13% since peak
BRIEFING UPDATES:
-23,921 people tested positive (+821)
- 1,764 people have died (+125)
- 1,877 patients are currently hospitalized (-70)
- 74,038 people have been tested (+2,541)
-Lamont says Fairfield County is down in hospitalizations 13% since its peak.
-If trend continues for another week, hospitals can start thinking about beginning elective surgeries once again.
-Lamont had weekly meeting with the White House COVID-19 Task Force Friday.
 -FEMA will deliver PPE to all nursing homes in the U.S. starting May 1 and will take 10 days.
-Flair-ups in compressed food processing places, like in South Dakota. Lamont says he'd like to see the federal government look into it. But the state is looking into places in the state.
-State is working with restaurants, food delivery companies to help food get distributed to people/seniors.
-Lamont expressed frustration about no support for local governments, police, teachers in new aid package.
-Small businesses can start applying for new round of loans on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
-Josh Geballe, chief operating officer of the office of the governor said it is "completely unacceptable" for nursing home workers to wear trash bags as PPE. This comes after the state Health Department says they investigated and found workers chose to wear trash bags, because they're more comfortable.
