A police officer from Rockland County, New York is accused of breaking into a home in Stamford and choking his ex-girlfriend.
Stamford police say William Oliver, 45, attacked the woman Sunday.
They say the victim told them she was home when Oliver used an emergency key to open her door and started asking her questions. Authorities say he pushed her into a wall and choked her twice, hard enough to leave marks on her neck.
The Clarkstown Police Department says Oliver has been suspended and an internal investigation has been launched into the incident.
