NYC issues winter operations advisory as travelers begin heading out for holiday

New York City issued a winter operations advisory as rain and snow showers could impact holiday travel plans.
Due to the weather, the city's sanitation department suggests that drivers stay off the road from 2 p.m. today until noon tomorrow.
AAA is anticipating an additional 3 million travelers this holiday season.
AAA says 90% of travelers nationwide will be hitting the roads for the holiday.
With the increase of drivers, they want to remind people to practice safe driving, that's includes:
Following the speed limit
Moving over and slowing down for emergency responders
Drive alert, refreshed and sober
This Sunday is expected to be the worst day to make it home for the holidays. The holiday congestion starts tomorrow and runs until Jan. 1.
