A local no-kill shelter struggling to stay in business has gotten a fundraising boost from Ellen DeGeneres.
The NYC's Top Dog shelter in Westchester Square is a no-kill animal shelter that has been in operation since 2010. The shelter on Newbold Avenue serves as a last resort for many animals to avoid being euthanized.

Owner Pedro Rosario says he has put his life savings into the shelter, but has been struggling to make ends meet.
Since a previous News 12 the Bronx story, the television personality got word that the shelter was struggling to stay open and has started promoting it on her show's website to help raise money.
