Police say a 15-year-old boy was shot Saturday while on the train platform at East 167th Street and River Avenue in Concourse.
Police said the shooting happened around 10 p.m. on the southbound 4 train platform.
News 12 was told the teenage victim was shot in the right leg and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.
Police said 20-year-old David Ayenengoye was arrested and charged with attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
Mohammed Hossain, who works under the train station at Super Discount Variety Store, said he is not surprised by gun violence in the Concourse community.
“I’ve been here about 17 years,” said Hossain. “I didn’t see things happening like this going on [before], but since like three or four months, it’s like happening all the time in this area.”
As of Sunday evening, details about what led up the shooting have not been released.
