Following a judge's orders, the final remnants of the Occupy New Haven movement have been cleared away from the New Haven Green.
A judge ordered the New Haven Green to be cleared by 9 a.m. this morning, so crews could clear away anything left behind. Many of the protesters had been there since mid-October, when the protest began as an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
At a news conference, Mayor John DeStefano (D-New Haven) said he believed the remaining occupiers were no longer representative of the movement's message of speaking out for struggling Americans. He said the movement cost the city $145,000.
Police arrested 13 people during the cleanup.
