The mayor of New London Michael Passero says one person is dead and several others are injured after a fuel tank rollover sparked a massive fire on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton.

State police say a truck collided into the back of a car after the car stopped in a right lane because its tire deflated. The rollover and fire followed.

They say the truck driver died.

"It looks like a passenger vehicle tire blew out, created an incident with a tractor-trailer truck that went over, spilling about 2,200 gallons of fuel," said Gov. Ned Lamont.
