Officials say the 33-foot Egg Harbor, Sportfish motor yacht was experiencing some engine trouble and was heading back in to shore when it exploded just 100 yards from a yacht club.

Two off-duty firefighters from the Westport Fire Department, who were onshore at the time and witnessed the incident, dove in the water to assist the boaters onto the dock of the club.
Offiicials say a Norwalk resident also jumped in his boat and raced to the scene with life rings and life preservers to assist those who were onboard.
The boat's operator and his wife were both transported to Norwalk Hospital and suffered minor burns, but are expected to be OK, officials say.
