Officials: Fire in Newark injures 2, displaces more than 30 people

The multi-alarm fire was reported around 1:15 p.m. at 69 Brookdale Ave. in Newark.

A fire in Newark left two people hurt and displaced more than 30 others.
The multi-alarm fire was reported around 1:15 p.m. at 69 Brookdale Ave.
Officials say that a Newark fire battalion chief was taken to University Hospital for a hand injury. A resident of the building was also treated for possible smoke inhalation.
The fire was put under control less than an hour later. Officials say that 33 people, including seven children, were relocated due to the fire.
The cause was not immediately known.
