Officials: Highland Country Club's club house destroyed in fire
The club house at the Highland Country Club in Shelton has been destroyed by a fire, officials say.
The fire happened just before 11:30 p.m. Friday.
As firefighters arrived on scene, they saw a large orange glow and that the club house was fully engulfed in flames.
Officials say that at one point, a 500-gallon propane tank had a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion and power lines had burned off the building.
The fire was put out in over an hour, but the building is considered a complete loss, according to authorities.
While crews responded to the fire, a brushfire was ignited from the embers but was quickly contained.
Firefighters remained on scene once the fire was extinguished to put out any hotspots and make sure the brushfire did not rekindle.
No one was injured.
