Police say two people, one of them a pregnant woman, were rushed to the hospital when a porch collapsed in Bridgeport.
It happened on the 200 block of Clinton Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
They fell more than 10 feet when the wooden staircase collapsed beneath their weight.
Police Chief AJ Perez told News 12 Connecticut the city's Health Department is launching an investigation to find out how the structure could come into such a state of disrepair.
Perez says what makes this especially dangerous are the rusty nails that become exposed during a collapse, posing "a critical danger to any person who could end up falling on them -- possibly from a great height."
Investigators say the property owner, who lives in Stamford, was called to the scene to help with the investigation.
Authorities have not released the condition of the victims.
