Officials: Masuk HS placed in 'stay put' status after student allegedly brought gun to school; no weapons found

Superintendent Joe Kobza said the decision to keep students in their classroom and minimize movement within the building was done as a precaution.

The superintendent of schools in Monroe says Masuk High School was placed in a "stay put" status Thursday after officials received a report that student brought a gun to school.
The status was established at 7:20 a.m.
The student was questioned while police searched the building.
In an email sent to the school community, Superintendent Joe Kobza said the decision to keep students in their classroom and minimize movement within the building was done as a precaution.
Kobza said during that time, there was no immediate danger to students or staff.
No weapons were found and the school was deemed safe.
The status was lifted at 9:45 a.m.
