A family in Milford is displaced after a fire tore through their home.
Fire officials say they responded to the scene on Utica Street around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Officials say the heavy fire started in the two-car garage, then spread to the main floor and finally into the attic.
The homeowner, Eileen Potkay, says she and her husband bought the home as an investment property and rented it out over the years. She says her son uses the home's detached garage for his business and when he went to the house on Saturday, he saw smoke and got the family living in the house out safely.
Fire officials say before crews arrived, the people inside the house tried to put out the fire with a garden hose. Opening the garage doors caused the flames to spread quickly.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
