While many local doctors say flu shots are abundant, national health officials said Tuesday that there is actually a flu shot shortage.
The vaccines are being produced, but there is a delay in shipments nationally. Many pharmacies and doctors' offices in southwestern Connecticut, however, ordered early.
Norwalk Community Health Center Director of Nursing Nimfa Orpeza says she and her colleagues learned from past seasons.
State Health Department Spokesman Bill Gerrish says vaccine manufacturers expect to be able to fulfill orders within the next few weeks. He says to be patient if your provider does not have the vaccine right now.
