The doors to "The Cottage" have opened on Broadway.

"The Cottage" is directed by Jason Alexander ("Seinfeld"). It's a farce set in England in 1923 and stars Eric McCormack ("Will And Grace") and Laura Bell Bundy (Broadway's "Legally Blonde") as a married couple at the center of several secretive romances.

McCormack says he'd always hoped to one day originate a comedic role on Broadway. "I wanted to do a new comedy on Broadway forever," says McCormack.

The storyline is driven by its three female characters who come to terms with their relationships and take ownership of their happiness.

"There is definitely a feminist through line. But by no means does this hit you over the head with a message," says actor Lilli Cooper.

The cast includes Alex Moffat, Nehal Joshi and Dana Steingold ("Saturday Night Live").

"The Cottage" is written by Sandy Rustin and performed at the Hayes Theater as a limited engagement through Oct. 29.
