The site of a once popular Stratford landmark will now be turned into an open-air market for people to enjoy.
The Shakespeare Theater was destroyed in a fire two years ago. There is still a hole at the site where the building once stood.
This Sunday, the site will be home to an open-air market featuring crafts and food. There will be about 20 vendors for the first outing.
"The vendors are amazing," says market manager Tom Dillon. "When I started, I thought six or eight, and now there are 20 vendors."
The plan is to add more vendors and eventually some entertainment. The market will give people a place to gather outside with social distancing and masks. It will also give vendors a chance to show their goods in person.
The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month through mid-April. Organizers say they will try to make it permanent if it's successful.
