A community organization is preparing for a rally Thursday in support of Bridgeport's departing interim superintendent.
Fran Rabinowitz announced earlier this month that she planned to resign from her role as interim superintendent by the end of the year because of apparent bullying from a board member.
Rabinowitz says Maria Pereira has bullied other Board of Education members and discredited their work.
Thursday's rally is being organized by the group March for Education. Foundation member Wayne Winston says the event is in support of stability for students in the school district.
"We don't need a break in leadership because going through the whole process of a national search for a school superintendent should be done ... in a way that makes sense, that doesn't interrupt the flow of business or the structure of education," says Winston.
Rabinowitz released a statement Wednesday in response to the rally plans, saying that she was deeply moved by the support and would consider staying on the board.
Meanwhile, Pereira says she was unaware of the rally, but added that everyone has a right to rally for anything they feel strongly about.
