More than 50 students from Sacred Heart University tried to get their records wiped clean at Bridgeport Superior Court after being charged with underage drinking in April.
In all, 85 students were charged for allegedly using fake identification at a bar. The prosecutor met with 51 Thursday to discuss plea bargains. They got to pay a $200 fine for an infraction that will not appear on their criminal records. The deal also allowed them to avoid having their driver's licenses suspended.
Police raided the Golden Star Cafe on April 5 and determined that many patrons had gotten in using fake or altered IDs.
Several students were upset because they had to travel back to southwestern Connecticut from out of state since school is not in session.
The whole thing began when officials say a police error compounded by a court clerk's error originally had the students charged with a misdemeanor offense.
