Two people who are walking across America from Maine to Florida spoke with News 12 Friday about their mission to spread awareness about addiction and overdosing.
Jessica Grieb and Mike Plante made their way through Stamford and Greenwich Friday. The walk is personal for the pair, who have both lost brothers to overdoses.
Jessica and Mike also struggle with addiction and say it’s an issue that goes much deeper than most people think.
"My brother, he was the toughest guy I know, and I saw him in tears trying to get better and trying to fight this every day and it's a struggle," said Grieb, of South Carolina. "It's like trying to pick up a million pieces of glass that have broken and you're trying to put it together and it's overwhelming."
Jessica and Mike cover about 15 to 20 miles a day on their journey.
