Paws & Pals: Dogs up for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter on Jan. 21

In this week's Paws & Pals, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter presented three dogs looking for their 'furever' homes.
Elijah is 4 1/2 years old. He came to the shelter as a stray in July, and he was terrified. He is still very anxious and desperately needs a loving home to feel safe. He is house trained, enjoys hanging out in his crate, is very loving and affectionate, and just wants to cuddle and get belly rubs. Elijah is friendly with other dogs. His ideal home would be with a patient family with adults only right now.
Caramel is a 5-year-old Thai Ridgeback mix. She loves attention, but does take her a long time to warm up to new people. She knows commands, walks well on leash and loves to play. Sadly, Caramel flinches when she hears loud noises at the shelter and is easily scared. She needs to be the only dog in a home with someone who will provide her with the proper structure so she can thrive.
Layla is a beautiful 2-year-old who is a bit shy but very loving. She walks well on leash and likes other dogs. She would do great in any loving home.
