The union representing cleaning crews in Fairfield, New Jersey and New York reached a tentative agreement Friday, averting a strike that was planned for the new year.
The new contract prevents a strike in the tri-state region which was authorized to begin on Jan. 1.
Members will vote on the agreement on Jan. 6.
If approved, the tentative agreement will include an average of 4% wage increases in each of the next four years, maintenance of healthcare and other benefits and Juneteenth as a paid holiday.
