Polar plunge raises funds for nonprofit providing life-changing experiences to seriously ill children

A Stamford financial services company has found a unique way to give back.
Synchrony held its 11th annual Doubles Dive at The Point at Norwalk Cove on Tuesday.
More than 100 employees jumped into the chilly water as part of the event. They could also participate by donating money and partaking in an ice bucket challenge.
Proceeds from the polar plunge benefit SeriousFun Children's Network. The global community of camps and programs provides life-changing experiences to children living with serious illnesses and their families for free.
The Norwalk-based nonprofit was founded by actor Paul Newman. His daughter Clea serves as an ambassador and was at the event.
"I love the fact that Synchrony, the company as a whole and [CEO] Brian Doubles just have this like incredible idea of giving back and in a fun way. It just embodies everything we're all about and it's an honor to work with them," she says.
Since the plunge began, it has raised $1.5 million.
