Police are searching for a 41-year-old man wanted in connection to the fatal stabbing a 61-year-old man on Whitney Avenue early Tuesday morning in Bridgeport’s lower North End.
They say Garcia was seen after the stabbing in a red-colored 2010 Nissan Pathfinder bearing Connecticut license plate “AW74910.” Police are asking the public to call them at 203-576-TIPS with any information that could lead to an arrest.
The details surrounding what led up to the stabbing have not yet been released.
Police say Garcia is an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador. A woman, who identified herself in Spanish to News 12 as Garcia’s wife, said she was “heartbroken” by the situation.
She said her husband's decision to take a life has left her alone in the world. She says she will now have to leave her apartment and has nowhere else to go.
City Councilwoman Jeanette Herron says the killings in Connecticut and across the country need to stop.
“People need to start thinking — if there is a conflict…if there's a problem, walk away. You don't have to kill somebody," she said.
