State police say one person is hospitalized after being shot by a police officer Wednesday.
Officials say Torrington police were dispatched to a home on Tioga Street for a well-being check around 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, an officer was confronted by a man and police say the officer was forced to fire his weapon.
The man sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and airlifted to Hartford Hospital.
The investigation has been turned over to the Central District Major Crime Division of the Connecticut State Police for investigation.
Troopers have not yet released the officer's name or the details of the incident.
