A 12-year-old Connecticut boy created a text and sent it only to himself, then showed it to his mother as a ploy to get out of going to school, police say.
The child’s sibling then took a screenshot of that text and sent it out to friends over the SnapChat app Thursday.
Police say the boy attends Swift Middle School.
Investigators say it was determined that no actual threat existed to any Watertown school.
The Watertown Police Department says it will be providing extra patrols at all Watertown schools today.
