Police: 2 men pretending to be Amazon employees commit home invasion in Stamford, injuring couple
Two Georgia men who pretended to be Amazon employees are facing numerous charges for a home invasion in Stamford, police say.
Police responded to a home on Dunn Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Monday for a reported disturbance. They say a woman was heard yelling on the phone that her husband was attacked.
While on the way, officers received a home alarm activation.
The couple told police that two men forced themselves into their residence.
They say the first suspect, who is described as a Black male wearing an Amazon-style delivery vest, knocked on the door and claimed to have a package that required a signature.
When the man accepted the package and tried to shut the door, the first suspect forced his way into the home. Police say the suspect was armed.
The man told his wife to call 911 and lock herself in an upstairs bedroom.
Police say a second suspect, who is also described as a Black male wearing an Amazon-style vest and armed, entered the home.
The male victim told police he was struck in the face and head multiple times with a handgun by the first suspect.
His wife said she witnessed her husband being assaulted and called 911.
After she called 911, the woman told police that the second suspect found her, grabbed her by the neck, threw her onto the bed and placed a pillow over her head.
Despite being assaulted, the male victim was able to activate the home's panic alarm. Once the alarm sounded, both suspects left the home and headed toward Cedar Heights Road.
The victims were taken to Stamford Hospital with minor injuries.
Hayes Edmonds and Sam Oduor were taken into custody nearby without incident. Police also found the two handguns in pair's vehicle.
Their charges include home invasion, assault and interfering with a 911 call.
A $2 million bond was set for both.
