Two men were shot while sitting inside of a parked car in Bridgeport and one had to be rushed into surgery, police say.

The shooting happened on Carrie Street at 1:46 a.m. Friday, police say.  

Police say a 21-year-old and 23-year-old were both struck by gunfire while they were sitting inside the car.

A third passenger who was not injured drove the car from the scene while operating from the passenger seat.

Police say the car crashed on Connecticut Avenue and Hollister Street after the shooting.

Both men who were shot were transported to the hospital, and the 23-year-old man was taken to surgery.

Police say officers in the area located a car believed to be connected to the shooting after more shots were fired, but lost sight of the car on I-95 at Exit 26.

Police say detectives are processing crime scenes at both the scene of the shooting and the car crash, and are reviewing video of the area and speaking to a witness.
