Police: 2 seriously injured in Torrington motorcycle crash

The drivers, Nickolas Newman and Spencer Parent, were thrown from their motorcycles. Both motorcycles were also heavily damaged.

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries following a motorcycle crash in Torrington, police say.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Winsted Road at the intersection with the Lowes Plaza entrance.
Police say two motorcycles were driving closely together in the same direction and heading north when they collided. The collision happened as the bikes entered the plaza's main entrance, according to authorities.
The drivers, Nickolas Newman and Spencer Parent, were thrown from their motorcycles.
Officers found them lying near their bikes.
Newman suffered a serious leg injury, while Parent sustained a serious injury, police say. Due to their injuries, both were taken to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar helicopter.
Both motorcycles were also heavily damaged.
Winstead Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
