An 82-year-old man is facing charges for assaulting a person with a kitchen knife Saturday in Greenwich, police say.

Police responded to a home at 10 a.m. for a reported assault involving a knife.

The victim told police they might have been injured during the incident.

A large kitchen knife was recovered at the scene, according to authorities.

Police say they made multiple attempts to contact Roberto Palaez, who was eventually located in the rear of the home and taken into custody without incident.

They say Palaez made several self-incriminating statements, including that he chased the victim with the knife and tried to hit the victim with the knife.

He was charged with criminal attempt at assault of an elderly person, disorderly conduct and threatening.

Palaez was held on $250,000 bond and is expected to appear at Stamford Superior Court.
