Stamford police arrested 20-year-old Franklin Emilcar, who admitted to shooting and killing a 16-year-old Friday night.
Police say Emilcar has been charged with first-degree manslaughter for shooting Daniel Villeda to death inside the third-floor apartment at 44 Roosevelt Ave. Neighbors say they heard a scuffle between Emilcar and Villeda just before 7 p.m. Friday as Villeda was walking up the back steps. Authorities believe the shooting was an accident because Emilcar is a friend of Villeda's brother and was allegedly playing with the handgun when it fired a shot.
During their investigation, police say they found nearly half a pound of marijuana, cash and a scale inside Emilcar's apartment. Authorities say Emilcar admitted to the shooting when questioned and showed remorse about the incident. Emilcar is also facing drug-related charges.
