An officer-involved shooting happened in Bridgeport overnight Saturday, police say.
Police say officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Terry Place at 1 a.m. for a report of an emotionally disturbed person.
A short time after their arrival, officers located Huntley Jackson, 45, who they say brandished a knife at the residence which led to the officer-involved shooting.
Authorities say one of the officers who responded was assaulted and stabbed by Jackson in the shoulder, neck and head. That officer was transported to an area hospital, treated and later released.
Jackson was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center and is in critical condition. He faces numerous charges including murder, assault on a public safety officer and carrying a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $1 million.
The shooting will be investigated by the Office of the Inspector General, the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad and the Bridgeport State's Attorney Office. Further updates on the incident will be provided by the Office of the Inspector General.
Police say as per their protocol, those involved in the shooting will be assigned to modified duty until a determination has been made by the Office of the Inspector General.
