(AP)- The case of a chopped up body found in a metal drum found floating in a river in Bridgeport last week hastaken an unusual twist.
Police say a Bridgeport man has confessed to chopping up hisfriend and stuffing the body parts into the metal barrel after hisfriend died of an apparent drug overdose.
Police say 23-year-old Felix Rivera told them that he and34-year-old Charles Gerber of Stratford were celebrating theirrelease from jail on July 17th. He says after popping pills anddrinking alcohol, Gerber stopped breathing.
Police say Rivera told them he became paranoid and decided tostuff Gerber's body into a metal drum. Rivera allegedly said thatGerber, who was five-feet nine-inches tall and weighted 180 poundswas too big.
Rivera then allegedly got an ax and cut off Gerber's head, handsand feet and crammed them into the metal drum and rolled it intothe water at Seaside Park. It resurfaced a few days later in thePequonnock River.
Despite Rivera's confession, police say the investigation iscontinuing.
