A Darien woman is accused of stealing $9,000 worth of items from Mitchells in Westport, police say.

Police say on March 14, Caroline Montanus entered the store, took the items into the dressing room, exited the room and then quickly left the store.

After Montanus left, an employee entered the dressing room and found several security tags that were removed from clothes and on the floor.

Through an investigation, police learned a similar incident happened at another Michells store in a neighboring community.

Police used video surveillance and shared information with other departments to identify Montanus.

Montanus was arrested Friday at Greenwich Police Department and then taken to Westport Police Department.

Montanus was charged with larceny and released after she posted a $50,000 bond.

She is expected back in court on May 23.
