Norwalk police say they've charged an 11-year-old deaf boy from the Bronx in one of the strangest death threats they've ever investigated. The boy is accused of terrorizing a 10-year-old mute girl from Norwalk with a special video phone for the deaf. Police say the boy called the girl at her home about two weeks ago, threatening to kill her the next day at school.
He now faces charges for harassment and menacing.
The girl attends the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, while the boy goes to the St. Joseph's School for the Deaf in the Bronx, according to authorities. The boy is believed to have gotten the girl's phone number through a mutual friend.
Police say it took a court order to get Sorenson Communications, the company running the videophone service, to release the caller's information. Authorities picked up the boy at his New York home shortly after learning his identity.
