State police are asking for the public's help in finding a dog that was taken during a car theft.

Police say that a woman was pumping gas at the I-95 northbound rest area in Fairfield around 12:30 a.m. when her car was stolen.

Two men are accused of pulling up in a Porsche - that was also allegedly stolen - alongside of the woman. Police say one man jumped into her Mercedes and drove away.

The owner is seen on surveillance video trying to open her car door many times before the suspects drove away.

The Porsche was found near the rest stop and the Mercedes was found the next day in Bridgeport, but the owner's dog named Cindy is still missing.

Police say one suspect has been found, and that he had the key fob on him.

Sgt. Brian Faughnan with Connecticut State Police says even in this cold weather do not leave your car running when you are pumping gas. He says if you have a key fob, thieves have a lot of time to steal a car and drive it until the gas runs out.

Cindy does have a chip in her so if she's returned to a shelter, they will be able to contact the owner. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
