An infant from Winsted died Friday after a tree fell and crushed the car she was riding in with her aunt.
It happened just before noon in Southwick, Massachusetts.
Authorities say the tree fell due to high winds. The driver, a 23-year-old also from Winsted, and the infant were trapped inside.
The Southwick Fire Department freed the driver, who is being treated for serious injuries at Baystate Medical Center.
The incident is being investigated by the Southwick Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney's Office.
