Police: Turkey fryer incident causes fire that destroys Weston house
Police say an incident involving frying a turkey on Thanksgiving caused a fire that destroyed a Weston home. The fire at 40 Weston Road was reported around 3:45 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Officials say that crews had difficulty fighting the fire due to the amount of fire and the fact that a portion of the home collapsed. Police also say that a vehicle drove over the water supply house, causing the flow of water to be stopped for several minutes.
Fire departments from multiple nearby towns came to assist in fighting the fire. Police say crews were on the scene for about 16 hours.
Officials say that the fire appears to have begun in the garage where someone was frying a turkey. No injuries were reported.
Officials say that the home is uninhabitable. The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting the people who are displaced.
